Meet Stacy Steele, D.V.M.

Doctor Stacy

Dr. Steele has known since childhood that she wanted to be a doctor someday. She grew up in San Diego, where she spent most of her time playing with her pets and reading books about animals. At age 14, she began volunteering at the local animal hospital and decided that veterinary medicine was a perfect fit!

Dr. Steele graduated from Auburn University’s College of Veterinary Medicine in 1990. Since then, she has traveled all over the world practicing veterinary medicine. She completed an externship in New Market, England; an internship in Prince Edward Island, Canada; and practiced in New Mexico, Northern Maine and Silverdale, Washington, before settling down and opening her own practice here in Ocean Shores!

Dr. Steele’s favorite part of being a veterinarian is performing surgery, and she is a passionate advocate for animal rescue. In 2008, she decided to combine these interests to join forces with the local rescue group, North Beach PAWS, providing multiple spay-and-neuter clinics for pets that are from low income families in our community. She also travels internationally, volunteering her spay and neuter services in third-world countries with the World Vets organization. She has gained a reputation for providing quick, safe, and efficient spay and neuter surgeries, hence the nickname “La Machina”!

When Dr. Steele isn’t busy working to improve the lives of her patients, she can be found walking on the beach with her 6 dogs, cuddling with her 2 cats, or acting, dancing, and singing! She is an actor and director with the local Stage West Community Theater.
